Just finished

1. I have just finished Legend by Marie Lu, and the ending was a cliffhanger.  June just read a secret letter from her dead brother Metias. It told June of how the Republic is doing many crimes that the citizens don't know about. Metias also tells June that her parents didn't die in a car crash, the Republic actually killed her parents. June decides to help Day, the most wanted criminal escape the day of his execution. June can do this by herself, so she goes to the terrorist group called the Patriots. The Patriots try to destroy the Republic and they like to publicize it. She bribes them with two-hundred-thousand notes as well as a bomb that she stole from the Republic. The Patriots agree to help June so June tells the Patriots that it will be during the execution. Unexpectedly Junes Commander tells her that they have moved the execution to the very day. So June has to get prepared much quicker. When the soldiers lead Day out to the firing squad, the leader of the soldiers accuses her of stealing the bomb. As he is leader her down to the storage room the bomb goes off. The lights go out so June can escape unscathed. She runs outside and meets up with Day's brother to go get Day. As they run out to meet the Patriots Day's brother runs back to buy Day and June more time. Then the Patriots pick up June and Day and drive them to safety. When Day wakes up he realizes that the Republic executed his brother instead of him. Then Day decides to go find Tess and his other brother.

2. I feel like Marie Lu used a lot of detail to explain what she is writing. Some times this detail would make the book go by very slowly or make the book very good and I couldn't put it down. She used detail to explain how the technology worked because this is a futuristic book. She also used the great amount of detail to explain why the United States of America is now split up into two countries, the Republic and the Colonies. Without the amount of detail she put into this book I think Marie Lu would have such a well-known book. Also I think I wouldn't have like as much as I do. I have realized that lots of detail has made a normal book become a great book that no one can put down.

3. I think the theme of this book would be survival. Day had to survive the many horrors of life after he failed the trail. They tortured him and they gave him many medicines to see how it would react on the human body. They also did surgery on him as well as taking body parts out of him to examine the different parts of the body. If he didn't survive those trails he wouldn't be able to help his family. If he didn't survive those trails his family wouldn't be able to survive. The family wouldn't get free cloths and money from Day. Many other people like Tess had to survive as well. Before she found Day she was only ten years old and trying to scavenge for left over food and cloths.

4. My favorite character is probably Day, he is always looking out for someone else. He doesn't think about himself only for the people close to him. Day does many good things to help his family and close friends. He is one of the only people in the book that are nice to other people and accept them for who they are. He gives people cloths because they are in need. He also helped Tess who he didn't have to, he could have easily just walked past her and not helped her. He also helped June out, when she was in a Skiz fight. After she won and wouldn't fight another person, the crowd got very mad at her. Then Day threw a dirt bomb that confused the crowd and he was able to help June escape.

5. My least favorite character is Thomas. He was the one who killed June's brother and made June think that it was Day who killed her brother. He is very decisive and doesn't tell the truth most of the time. I also think that he takes advantage of June, by being June's brother friend. If he wasn't a friend with Metias I think that June would be more wary of Thomas and not let him take her to the movies and out to dinner. Lastly Thomas is a two-sided person. He seems like a nice guy on the outside but on the inside he doesn't mind killing innocent civilians, like he did to Day's mom and many other civilians during a protest.

6. I was sort of expecting the ending of this book. I knew that June would save Day but I didn't know that she would want to save Day's brother. I also wasn't expecting Thomas to accuse June of stealing the bomb, I thought that she had bought it of the black market. I knew that day's brother would head back to save extra time for Day and Thomas. He was always looking after his two younger brothers and would do anything to save them. Lastly the ending was a cliffhanger I thought so I hope that Marie Lu comes out with a sequel to the book.
