Caroline Buras

Caroline Buras
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
John Boyne
Historical Fiction
Just Right

1. The ending of the book Shmuel could not find where his father had went and had wanted to go look for him. Bruno said he would help find his father because he thought that they were good friends. Bruno sneaks into the concentration camp from under the fense and went searching. What the did not know about was the acid showers. His father was taken in the group where the "useless, hurt, old, tired, sick" people were. The soilders who worked there thought they were usless to work so they sent them to the acid showers. Shmuels father was hurt and sent to the acid showers. Shmuel and Bruno thought they saw his father walking into the place where the acid showers are. They followed the man. Meanwhile, the boys did not know the the acid showers were meant for killing those workers.

2. I really liked this book because it shows what bravery is at the end of the book when Bruno tries to help Shmuel find his dad. Bruno is a young boy who just moved to a new house by a concentration camp. He is adventerous and tries to have fun and find friends whenever he can.Shmuel is also a young kid who was brought to a concentration camp with his father. Bruno is also a curious kid because he asks Shmuel why he is in striped pajamas. Except Bruno does not know that the striped pajamas are actually what Shmuel is forced to wear everyday. The author is pullnig me into the book because it was really goof and I kept wanting to keep reading the father i went in the book. I always would think that Bruno would get caught and dragged into the concentration camp with Shmuel.

3.  A theme in this book that i had noticed was bravery. I thought Bravery would be a good decision for this book because Bruno would not listen to his parents and run off to the fence where his friend Shmuel was. Also because he would come in and out of the concentration camp by digging a hole in the ground and sneaking in. This theme mostly appears in Brunos plot because Bruno had done the most brave things to see his friend.

4. My favorite character is Bruno. Bruno is a seven year old who lives in Berlin with his father, mother and sitster. I chose him as my favorite character because he is very couragous and does fun things that I would not have the couage to do at age seven. He is a really good friend to others and always just wants to have fun.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             . If I was Bruno myself I would be scared from getting caught with hanging out with Shmuel.

5. My least favorite character is his sister, Gretel. Gretel is Bruno's siter. She is three years older than Bruno. His sister would be mean to him sometimes and just not sound like a really fun sister to have.
