1. At the end of Of Mice and Men, George shoots Lennie in the back of the head because George doesn't want Curly to torture him. Curly wants kill Lennie because Lennie keeps on killing things fo instance when Lennie kills Curly's wife. George steals Carlson's gun and follows Lennie back to the riverbank where the book started. Lennie asks George to tell him about the future again, like how he can tend the rabbits on their land. George tells Lennie to look out across the water as he tells Lennie the plan. After George shoots Lennie, the other guys from the ranch come running in through the bushes. George tells Carlson that Lennie had the gun, when he did not.
2. This book was boring and pushed me away. The details were too complicated, this made it hard for me to figure out the theme. I think the theme of this book is having dreams. If you have a dream, it may not work out and you have to come up with something new. The dream Lennie and George had was having a farm. This theme really showed itself when George killed Lennie at the end when he is repeating the plan they had together. The dream died with Lennie. John Steinbeck is a new author to me.
3. The theme of dreams appears within the characters of the book. For example, at the begining George and Lennie talked about a plan they had to buy a farm and rabbits. It appears at the scene where Lennie is in Crook's room and Lennie tells Crooks about their plan and Crooks tells him that he had a dream to work but it won't come true because he is old and crippled.
4. My favorite character is Lennie because he has differences and I also have differences. For example in the book when George does all the talking for Lennie, sometimes I feel like others do the talking for me too. Lennie is a very nice person and tries not to hurt others.
5 .My least favorite chacter was Curly becasue he wasent a very nice person. He would always blame things on Lennie and i thougth that it wasent very fair. It seemed like Curly dident really caer a whole lot about his wife. He never did really respected her as a human.
6. When I figured out that Lennie was slow but strong and accidentally killed things, I
Predicted that Lennie would die in this book. When Lennie killed the puppy and when th ey had to leave weed beause he wanted to feel a girl's dress. Lennie dident mean to hurt the puppy or to have the girl think he would attack her. The part of the ending that suprised me was that George was the one that kills Lennie. I thought George would be like Candy and stay at the ranch and have Curly and the rest of them go and kill Lennie.
Hi Hannah,
ReplyDeleteI didn't really like this book. I felt it was very boring and slow. I think if it had more action and was faster paced I would have liked it more. Good job with your blog post. I thought your responses were very thoughtful. My favorite character is also Lennie. I think he was the nicest character in the book. I never thought about dreams being a theme. I chose a different theme, but I thought you did a good job explaining why you think it is a major theme in the book.
Great Job!
Caroline
I also thought that this book was slow and boring too. I felt like the book should have had more interesting events in the book to make readers not want to put the book down. I thought your 2nd and 3rd paragraph was really good at explaining what you wanted to say and to prove your point. Your whole blog post was very good! My least favorite character was Curly too. I felt that Curly i agree he wasn not nice to Lennie and to his wife he didnt treat her like he actually cared about her. I dont really disagree with anything you had said.
ReplyDeleteGood job.
Caroline.
