1) The 15 year old resident of Carvahall, Eragon starts the book by finding a strange blue stone while traversing The Spine, a mountainous area outside his home. The world in which this novel takes place is know as Alagaesia, under the control of Galbatorix, a fallen Dragon Rider, now evil. These dragon riders used to be the peace keepers of the world, but when his dragon died, Galbatorix went mad and killed his fellow riders. Eragon's blue stone hatches eventually and from it emerges a dragon. Because of the rarity of the birth since dragons are supposed to be extinct, Eragon keeps is find secret and raises his dragon away from prying eyes, until two dark Ra'zac enter the town looking for the stone. The dragon's name was Saphira, leaves the town with Eragon to hid in the forest. While Eragon is away the Ra'zac kill Eragon's Uncle Garrow and burn his house down. In response, Eragon declares himself a new Dragon Rider in the vain of those past, the peace keepers, before Galbatorix betrayed them. Eragon takes with him on his journeys Brom, a weaver of stories from his town with knowledge on everything Eragon will need to know to protect himself and be able to defeat the Ra'zac.

2) I find the book to be great and have a lot of detail explaining everything that is happening. I find that the book has a beautiful plot and just the set up is good. All the events flow into each other. I find The characters to be very real and find myself thinking I'm there since of there description. There are some parts that I didn't like and didn't add to the good experiences of the book.

3) The theme in this book was courage. I thought that because of the biggest decision Eragon makes in the beginning of the book which is to becoming a dragon rider. The reason becoming a dragon rider is dangerous is because a lot of people are trying to kill you. And by having Eragon put himself in front of danger, he is showing courage since he isn't backing away from this position as dragon rider.

4) My favorite character would probably have to be Eragon. I think this because I find him to be a good person so far. I think hes an honest man who lives a normal life. Also, I think hes very courageous person because unlike a lot of men hes able to go into The Spine and not be afraid of it and also be able to navigate it. Over all I think that he will be a great main character because of what we already know of him.

5) Galbatorix would probably have to be my least favorite character out of all of them. From the stories that they told of him he sounded like a great man but now he sounds more like a really corrupted man. I thought that it was awful that he started killing all the other dragon riders after his dragon died. I feel like that he will try to go after Eragon and try to kill his dragon.

6) I have a few predictions, one being I predict that Galbatorix will come face to face with Eragon. I think this because I feel like the plot is headed in this direction. I also predict that there will be a huge epic battle between them and that Eragon will win since the main character never dies in any books. My last prediction is that Saphira, the dragon will get either really badly hurt or die because she protected Eragon from a arrow or some type of magic spell.

  1. I have not read Eragon (underlined), but it has always been on my someday list. This post made me want to read it even more. I think that your strongest prompt is our first one, about what is going on right now. I think this because you explained everything well and put a lot of names and name of places in to make it easier to understand. Your theme paragraph was also pretty good. I think that courage is a theme. I am not sure if it fit book because I haven't read it, but based on your details about Eragon becoming a Dragon Rider make it seem like it is a good theme. I also think I once included this theme for my book The Stand (underlined) because everyone had to fight for themselves when their families died of a disease that spread throughout the world.
