1. I am reading, The Scorch Trials, by James Dashner. This book is the sequel to another book, called The Maze Runner. Im at the part when Thomas, the main character has just found out that his best friend is now in-fact what she was going to be in the beginning. In the beginning of this book all of the people who got out of the Maze, got tattoos on their necks somehow over night. They all woke up and noticed it and read what they said. They put all of the characters you know of in there place. They explained the role they are. They then found out that Thomas the main protagonist is supposed to be killed by the other group that was in another maze. This is confusing because when Thomas's best friend disappears and a weird guy shows up in her place he is really confused. But right now Thomas has just decided that he cant trust anyone because Teresa his best friend and the girl he likes just admitted that before the maze she and Aris,( another kid in this book who replaces Teresa) Had a thing and that Teresa knew that she could and did manipulate Thomas in to getting them out of the maze. She knew that she could see Aris again if she got out. Teresa then kisses Thomas but this time he feels no connection to her anymore. Thomas now is going to the Safe Haven but is very mad. He now cannot trust Teresa.
2. I really think this book has a lot of detail. Especially when talking about the relationship between Teresa and Thomas. It explains in this book that they are now very differently judging each other. Teresa claims she still loves Thomas and that if she didn't do what WICKED wanted she wouldn't be able to ever see Thomas again because he would be killed. Thomas doesn't trust Teresa now because of her relationship to WICKED. After all Thomas, Teresa, Aris, and the girl Aris could speak telepathy to, Rachel all helped build WICKED but Thomas doesn't quite have the bond Teresa does to them. Teresa still helps them, and Thomas is done wanting her to control her. James Dashner is really good at putting that amount of detail that you really understand the book. I liked this book a lot BUT I definitely liked the first book more. I cant read to read the next book.
3. The theme in this book is Survival. It is very weird though because though they all want to survive they can't. There are though some that want to survive more. especially the main characters. Thomas doesn't know what to do though because he is constantly getting injured or fighting people to try and live. He wont go down without a fight. In this book you always have a feeling that something bad is going to happen to someone in this book. This book has a lot of Survival of the fittest. That is one aspect that i like of this book.
4.My favorite character is Thomas. He is my favorite because he is a fighter. He is always trying to get away from trouble and to save the gladers. He always puts up the last fight of them all. Especially when Teresa and Aris take him to the gas chambers. He fights them and even though its two versus one he keeps fighting. This ends up in them hurting Thomas almost fatally. meaning he could die. Also when Thomas is in the Crank Party, He meets Brenda and Jorge and when they get in a fight Thomas calms them down and then ends up getting shot by a rust bullet. Though it is only in the shoulder, it gets infected and then needs to be taken by WICKED and put in a machine that helps them get the bullet and the infection out. Thomas is brave as well.
5. My least favorite character is Teresa in this book because she betrays Thomas and hurts him more than someone ever could. She tells him about how she is helping WICKED. That really hurts Thomas because he really hates WICKED because they are putting them through theses stupid trials that are helping WICKED more than helping the kids. Also when she hurts Thomas when they are fighting. She almost kills him! It is very sad to see the relationship between them become very sad, bad, and awkward.
6. I think that later in the story the groups will meet up somehow and see each other. They will then maybe fight for Thomas's life. That would be a good lead in to the next book that I really want to read. it is called The Death Cure. I think that Thomas will obviously live because he is the main character and without him the book doesn't feel right. I think that group B will get killed and Teresa will become the glader's prisoner. I don't think Thomas will forgive her either. I know I wouldn't.
