1) Towards the end of the book things really start to lose place. He decides to dive down to the plane in the lake and to see if he can find anything that might help him. So after a while of working around the plane he finds a pack and tryes to get it out. But it doesn't fit, he pulls and final changes the shape of the bag by pushing and pulling the sides and is able to get it out. He final is able to get the pack out of the plane and starts to drag it back to his shelter. This bag weighs allot and it is very difficult, he drags it a foot at a time. When he returns to his camp he leans the bag up against the wall and is so exhausted from working in the cold water all day he falls asleep instantly. He wakes up in the morning and goes strait to the pack and realizes its a survival pack and finds stuff like matches and food like potatoes and pasta enough for month and he just got it now. And right as he puts a beef dinner on and starts to boil the water he hears a drone noise and suddenly a plane flyes right over his head flying very low. The plane takes a sharp turn and lands on the lake sliding ever so slightly onto the beach and the pilot steps out and says your that kid arnt you I herd your distress signal.


2) Well I have just recently finished the book and I feel very good about it. this books is very exiting, most times when I read a book its because I have to but this book once I started to read it I couldn't stop. I have never felt the feeling that you cant put down a book until I read this. I like to read about adventure but loved to read this book. It is full of suspense and excitement its so amazing to read about how he survives. For example his only piece of technology was his hatchet. He used it to hunt, build, dig, cut, and it replaces all the other things we have in our lives just so he could keep his. The Theme in the book is survival. The whole book is about his hardships of him surviving on his own. the main character is a 14 year old boy named Brian. the other characters arnt really in the book alot but there is brians mom, brians dad,and the pilot of the plane. The author is pulling me into this book by have drastic events that you just ahve to keep reading to find out. For example when the plane crashed, I couldnt put the book down until I found what happend and if he survived. The author uses events like this throughout the hole book and really gets you interested. This is the first book I have read by Gary Paulsen but I have herd there are more and am very exited to read them next.

3) I think that the theme in  this book is definetly survival. I think this because the whole book is based on how Brian survives and lives of the little things he has by himself in the middle of the wilderness. The theme also releates to Brian, his parents are going through a hard divorce and he is just trying to survive the fighting and get through it. For example when he is alone with nothing but a hatchet, how is he suposedto eat or sleep or do anything he has to completely relie on himself he cant just sit around wait for someone to rescue him ,what if he is never saved.

4) My favorite character is Brian. He is my favorite chracter because he is really the only chracter that is talked about he is also the main character. I really respect him for being so brave and being able to do what he did. I can imagine him as as a great person and very respopnsible for a 14 year old boy.

5) My least favorite character is Brians dad. Tne only reason he is my least favorite is because he is the one who is least talked about. For example Brian has a huge part in the story it is all about him, his mom has a good sised part in the biging when he is getting on the plane, and the pilot also is talked about because nhe is the one that was incontrole of the plane. I probublywould have had a better idea of least favorite if they were talked about more but they dont have alot of part in the story so i dont have a good idea of there personalitys. They are probubly going to have a better part in the next books in the series.

6) I prediced that he would have been discoverd many years latter l,ike in his fourtys. So i was right that he was found but not the timing. The author lead me to think that he would be found many years later bec ause he was starting to get nthe hang of it and he also just discovered a survival pack with all the eneccessary items he could use to live better. He also is able to get into the plane and soon will be able to get many more items from the plane.
