Sam Hartley

Sam Hartley
Of Mice and Men
John Steinbeck
Just right
Just finished

1) I thought that the ending of the book was really well played out since of the foreshadowing that the author did to show Curley's wife's death. I thought it gave just enough to help show the different actions that Lennie did that lead up to Curley's wife's death. Also the ending of the book was very sad and surprising  because it was really sad and surprising to see George shoot Lennie. I never saw that coming and I don't know how George was  able to pull that trigger. I understand it was to save George from being captured and tortured but I don't see how he was able to do it, I wouldn't do that since I would never kill any who I've been with for so many years and have do so much stuff with.

2) I thought it was an okay book with many good and bad things about it. I thought that the author did a great job putting foreshadowing in with the incident at Weed, the mouse, and the pup. Also I thought the Author did a great job with adding a lot of detail Sometimes I felt some times that was really there standing next to George as he played cards. Also the author did a amazing job at giving the characters a life and making feel like they are really real. One thing that I thought the author could have done better was making some of there conversations a little better because sometimes it was hard to follow it.

3) I Thought the main theme of this book was Isolation. I saw this in Curly's wife main because she was the only girl one the ranch. Also no one ever talked to her because everyone knew that she was trouble. Also Curly didn't like anyone talking to her. Another reason was Lennie and George because they were the only ones that understood what it was like to have a family and been a family. they relied on each other to get their American dream of having their only property and farm. Compared to Everybody else who is just there for the money.

4) My favorite character would probably have to be George since with out him Lennie wouldn't know or do anything. George does so much for Lennie, he is always giving Lennie everything he needs to be happy. Also he is able to put up with Lennie's actions and not get mad. George is always soothing Lennie with stories about how they will live out on a farm with animals and not have to work for someone else. So over all i think George is the best since he really makes Lennie who he is.

5) My least favorite Character would probably have to be Curly. I think that Curly is really mean to his wife since he is always telling her what to do and that she can't talk to anybody but her. I think its awful that he does that and its not appropriate. Also he is very raciest to Crooks, which I think is the worst thing you could probably do. Its not right in the least bit and it just makes me mad when I have to read it. Another thing is that he is mean to Lennie just because he is talk and strong. I understand that Curly is jealous but I don't think you should hate someone over that.

6) I was really surprised by the ending that I never saw it coming. I kind a saw Curly's wife being killed but I couldn't see Lennie being killed. I was just in so much shock when I read about George killing Lennie. I wonder how George was able to do it.  Also there were a few way that gave away Curly's wife dying. One was in the beginning of the book when they had to run away from Weed since Lennie was accused of rape even though you only wanted to feel her dress. Another thing was when they came out of the forest to a little stream and George told them that if anything bad happened that they should meet here. Another thing that gave it away was when George told Lennie not to go near or talk to Curly's wife.
