Just Right
Just finished
1) I thought the ending was really exciting and surprising. It was exciting because I couldn't put down the book when they were assaulting the Capitol. I was just so into it that I thought I was really there. Also, it was surprising because I never thought that Katniss would shoot President Coin during the execution of the former President. When I read it, I was super shocked because even though I knew she didn't like the idea of Coin becoming President, I wouldn't have thought of killing her.
2) I loved this book because of all the suspense, interesting characters, and action. I thought that at the end of each chapter because there were beautifully made cliffhangers. It would kill me every time I had to stop reading because I wanted to know what would happen next. Also, Suzanne Collins did an excellent job making each character feel real. She made me feel that I was really there with these characters . Lastly, the book was just so action-packed with the huge war going on and all the little battles that made up the war, that it really held my interest the whole time.
3) The big theme of this book was probably determination. I say this because District 13 and a few other Districts were determined to take down the Capitol. I saw this when they were planning their final assault on the Capitol. Also, after all these little wars that they won and lost, they just weren't giving up.
4) My favorite character in this book would probably have to be Haymitch. The reason he is my favorite character is that he has always been there for Katniss throughout all the books. He showed this in Book One when he got Katniss through the games without dying. He taught her many strategies about how to play the game. Also, he was able to save Peeta and Katniss at the same time. In Book Two he helps them get through the Quarter Quell. He tells Katniss and Peeta who to team up with and who to stay away from. Lastly, he helps Katniss when she thinks she can't be the Mocking Jay for District 13.
5) I didn't really have a least favorite character, but if I had to choose I would probably have to say Coin. Throughout the whole book, I feel that she doesn't like Katniss since she is always mean to her. Also, I feel as if Coin is just using Katniss to her advantage because everyone likes Katniss and Coin has figured out how to use that to promote herself and the war.
6) The ending was what I was expecting because I knew that President Snow was going to die. Also, I knew that Katniss and District 13 were going to win the war. But the one thing I didn't expect was that Coin would die. A big clue that I thought gave away most of the ending was that they beat all the Districts. That was when I knew the Capitol would lose since the Capitol depended on the Districts to support it. When all of the Districts' supplies were cut off, they didn't stand much of a chance.
